John P Hagan Solicitors , JPH LAW Solicitors Portadown- Restaurant owner found guilty over peanut curry death
A restaurant owner from North Yorkshire has been found guilty of the manslaughter of a customer who suffered a severe anaphylactic shock after eating a curry containing nuts. Mohammad Zaman had denied responsibility; however, he reportedly switched almond powder for a cheaper groundnut mix, which contained peanuts. Paul Wilson, the deceased, had specified “no nuts” when he ordered a chicken tikka masala. Mr Zaman, described by the judge as “reckless”, has been jailed for six years.
