Class actions are to rise

the anticipated rise in class action suits in Britain from next month when the Consumer Rights Act becomes law. The act has been hailed as the biggest shake-up in consumer rights law in a generation. Alex Leitch, co-chairman of Covington’s UK Disputes Team, said: “The imminent arrival of true US-style class actions here in the UK has been heralded by the recent sighting of dorsal fins, belonging to the many plaintiff lawyers who have recently been arriving and indeed hiring in droves.”
