Insurers accused of whiplash scare

Insurers have been accused of exaggerating the extent of fraudulent claims as a way of coaxing the Government to crack down on personal injury payouts.

George Osborne announced plans in last month’s Autumn Statement to abolish cash payments for minor injuries and send fewer cases to the Small Claims Court, after insurance bosses complained of a “whiplash gravy train” forcing up premiums for honest drivers
