An increasing number of young couples are signing prenuptial agreements, as parents of the bride and groom seek to safeguard their investments. JMW Solicitors said half of the prenups written by the firm are prompted by parents and in-laws whose financial help is often the only way couples in their twenties and thirties can afford to buy their first home. It revealed the number of couples asking for prenups has doubled in a year, and quadrupled since the courts first gave legal force to such deals six years ago. “Some parents have even remortgaged their own homes to enable children to get on to the property ladder and have been vocal in expressing the wish that the support should be ringfenced,”
