Police seek power to view web historiesThe police are seeking powers to view the internet browsing history of anyone they wish to investigate arguing that without such access they would be “flying blind” in everyday investigations. Senior officers have called for the Investigatory Powers Bill to include a requirement for telecoms firms to retain data for 12 months. Police would still need to apply for judicial approval to be able to access the content of the websites.
