img_0194-1Injunction becomes increasingly pointless
Several papers comment on the injunction which prevents the reporting in the UK of a celebrity’s sex life, despite details being reported on the web and in the US press. The Mail reveals that the celebrity, along with the couple they were involved with, was named in unedited court documents which were mistakenly sent by a senior judge’s clerk to legal publications in Britain that put it online. It was removed after 24 hours but had already been shared. Mark Stephens, media law expert at Howard Kennedy, said: “Obviously mistakes happen and it’s disappointing for the celebrity that one happened in this instance. But again it demonstrates that there are other areas where the name was known. The idea that this should be left private has been lost.”
