TAX POLICY – Alarm sounded at soaring value of farming and business IHT relief
The parliamentary National Audit Office (NAO) is launching an investigation into the misuse of tax reliefs. Last week the NAO published a report noting that the total value of agricultural and business property relief from inheritance tax has almost doubled in five years, and criticised the Treasury for failing to monitor the effect of such reliefs on tax revenues.
