One in four students see full deposits returnedData from the Deposit Protection Service shows that only 27.5% of students receive 90% or more of their deposit back once their tenancy concludes. The most common reason for deductions was cleaning costs, which hit 32% of student deposits, with repairs accounting for 27% of deductions, redecoration cited in 20% of cases and replacing lost or damaged items in 19%.
